Kambo, a cleansing Amazonian frog excretion and Iboga, a psychoactive, African root bark. Kambo and Iboga work together to cleanse and ground us in the essence of being. Removing physical and mental toxicity, these oracles of Mother Nature call to those yearning for cleansing and vibrant living. We are wired to connect to the Earth but societal conditioning and infrastructure has numbed our sensitivity. Our offerings in Nicaragua promote reconnection and remembrance of the nature within.
Retreats in Popoyo, Nicaragua
RootofBeing in Nicaragua is the second chapter following ten years as IbogaJourney in Canada. The jungle and the beach are a completely different field of energy from the mountains. The collective vibration here in coastal Nicaragua is fresh, positive and friendly compared to that of coastal B.C. in Canada. The tropical environment allows for open air spaces, jungle-oxygenated air, barefoot walking and tropical ocean soaking. Iboga is the root medicine from the Earth so the more immersed in nature guests can be, the more connected they become to the medicine. Kambo is the jungle detox and the best preparation for any psychedelic journey but is particularly effective preceding Iboga. RootofBeing offers three medicine sessions. Kambo, Iboga day journey and Iboga full journey. The medicine house is secluded and built intentionally for hosting journeys. Whether it's a two hour Kambo, eight hour dayboga or the full Iboga experience, RootofBeing provides a safe, nurturing, natural space for healing and self exploration.
Kambo and Iboga Synergy
An Amazonian frog and an African root. A synergetic pair from distant land masses, joined in ceremonial union. A body-cleanse and a mind-journey, perfectly suited to one another like soul mates. Kambo burns away our negative energy as well as flushing toxicity which heightens sensitivity to Iboga. The frog also has a powerful neutralizing effect which is why it was used by hunters in the Amazon to remove their anticipation and their predator projection, blending them into the jungle. Pre Iboga, Kambo neutralizes the anticipation of ceremony, levelling us in presence, ready to enter the Iboga journey free of projection and with a sense of serenity.
Iboga Root Bark Vs Ibogaine
Most of what is written online is about Ibogaine. There are even many instances of Ibogaine simply referred to as Iboga which is not true. Iboga root bark is the raw, natural material shaved from the root of the Tabernanthe Iboga shrub from West Central Africa. It contains the bark pulp and a mix of twelve alkaloids including Ibogaine. From the perspective of creative intelligence, this plant is not here by chance and it was meant to be consumed the way nature created it. Ibogaine on the other hand, is a single, isolated alkaloid extracted from the root bark. It is a purified chemical compound, typically Ibogaine Hydrochloride, a white powder that is fifty times more concentrated than in the bark. All the clinical trials and risk reports are from Ibogaine, not root bark. The root bark experience is the wholesome, natural journey, ingested slowly over a long period of time. The volume and composition of the bark means the twelve alkaloids continue to be absorbed all the way through the digestive system, gifting journeyers with an entire spectrum of healing that Ibogaine is missing.

JEREMY
Jeremy's journey providing Kambo and Iboga began in 2012 in Canada. In a humble dual-yurt lodge, he lived amongst the cedar trees, next door to the Cheakamus river in Squamish. Over eight years, Jeremy served hundreds of journeyers in that magic space but 2020 changed everything. The insanity of visitation restrictions were enforced, abruptly ending the practice. Jeremy sold his beloved space and moved to Gambier Island to practice discretely in a temporary space, but the restriction continued which led to a crossroad. These powerful catalysts opened a portal with visions of a new life in a new country. Following his heart and his gut, he began the creation of a simple and minimal life in Nicaragua, living rurally in a coastal village. Jeremy serves Kambo and Iboga with deep reverence and stillness where silence is the foundation. A deep voyage in letting go of the characters played by both himself and the journeyers. Jeremy holds space with admiration for authentic commitment, witnessing the courage to see life with radical responsibility, exposing victim illusions and setting them free. His space and medicines are held in trust and love, rekindling remembrance of the intelligent creative force.
COCO
Coco has been in healing service for over twenty years. Her background in yoga and body work includes multiple modalities learned from wisdom journeys to many countries. As a maestra of movement and touch, her journey in healing and holding space cultivated deep empathy and intuition, working with thousands of people over decades. Coco´s yearning for healing knowledge led her to Kambo which became a foundation for her own cleansing and a reverent voyage into Kambo service. Like Jeremy, Coco faced extreme catalysts following 2020 that led her away from Canada. Landing first in Mexico, she lived and practiced in Cabo San Lucas for a few years which was an introduction to a new paradigm and most significantly, to Iboga. The experience was pivotal in her voyage of self sovereignty, but Cabo´s rapid population and infrastructure growth led to an unhealthy environment of consumption. Coco's work with Iboga continued, summoning a deep desire for simplicity. Grace, love and synchronicity set in motion events that led Coco to Popoyo in Nicaragua and ultimately to co-create RootofBeing.

Our mission is to provide a nurturing environment and a healing frequency through the use of naturally occurring oracles. A deep respect that these medicines represent Mother Nature’s invitation to connect and evolve. Sometimes the medicine journey is understandable and relevant, sometimes metaphorical and symbolic but often it's chaotic, patchy and obscured by shadows. Regardless of the perception of what we "think" happened, daily life is where the real changes are made with every choice. Iboga promotes radical responsibility. The end of the victim. Ultimately, we are the medicine and life is the ritual.
